I really wanted to believe that illness was a time to feel cosy, cosseted and safe.

I discovered that it really isn’t like that at all, except for your glorious pomegranate juice bottles, which set things straight and reassured me that somewhere in the world, up on Hurstwood Road, the extraordinary is happening.

You supplied my 13-year-old son with pomegranate juice during his chemo treatment. We had been told his iron levels were likely to fall and that he might need a blood transfusion. Throughout treatment, his iron levels remained remarkably good, and he was one of the few children on the unit who did not require a transfusion. We were so grateful for the juice and the care behind it.

“Every morning, when everything else tasted like cardboard, it was the one thing I looked forward to — cool, refreshing and full of goodness.”

“Your kindness, your warm welcome, your check-in messages and the care you put into what you do mean more than I can say. With heartfelt gratitude.”

“I’m so grateful for your wonderful juice and the love and care with which you work. It’s delicious and sweet. Thank you!”

“Thank you so much for organising and guiding everyone to help perform an amazing mitzvah. I’m humbled that so many friends and family gave their time and love. I’m truly grateful.”

“My husband is finding it hard to eat and drink, but he loves the pomegranate juice. Thank you so much for arranging the bottles for him.”

“My friend says the pomegranate juice is amazing. She can’t bear to eat a thing, but the one thing she can tolerate is the juice. She wanted me to tell you how much she appreciates it and to say thank you so much.”
